About the Right of Way
Recognizing the essential role of telecom connectivity in advancing governance, transparency, development, and security, the Government of Nagaland has established the Right of Way (RoW) Portal. This portals features are in accordance with the Right of Way (RoW) Policy 2024 issued by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, and supersedes previous state guidelines on telecom infrastructure deployment.
The revised guidelines provide a clear, standardized approach for the installation of both overground (mobile towers, aerial OFC) and underground (optical fiber cables) telecom infrastructure within Nagaland. These regulations ensure compliance, safety, and efficiency in overcoming the unique geo-climatic challenges of the state, ultimately enhancing connectivity and facilitating the digital transformation of Nagaland.
These regulations shall apply to the whole of the State of Nagaland and shall be implemented by all the Telecom Service Providers, Municipal Councils and other designated Bodies/ Areas, Authorities in district, blocks and village levels empowered to give plan approval of buildings within their jurisdiction. These regulations will be applicable to all existing/ proposed telecom towers installed/ to be installed.
Read more Register nowConsidering the fact that Telecom connectivity has admittedly become the most crucial infrastructure for transparency and speed in governance, development, security, concurrent monitoring and all the rest, and the only means to overcome the geo-climatic obstacles to communications in the State.
Subsequently, the Department of Telecom, Government of India had issued the ROW policy 2016 for both overground and underground telecom infrastructure.
Accordingly, in pursuance of the Right of Way(RoW) policy 2016, in supersession of earlier notification of this department, a comprehensive revised guideline is notified, stipulating set of standard and regulations for granting of permission for installation of Telegraph/Telecom infrastructure both over ground (Mobile Towers, Aerial OFC) and underground (Optical Fibre) within the territorial jurisdiction of Nagaland is hereby notified for strict compliance.
The Telecommunications Right of Way Rules, 2024 will come into effect from 1st January 2025. This will supersede the existing guidelines and will be applicable to all new Row applications.
